Bringing a big moment of pride to Pakistan, Arshad Nadeem brought the country’s first individual gold medal. The 27-year-old took a major leap by bagging the top spot in the men’s javelin final at the Paris Olympics 2024. While his victory brought a wave of happiness across the country, including in his hometown of Khanewal in Punjab province, the athlete has now gotten busy interacting with the media and speaking about his achievement. In a recent media conversation, Arshad Nadeem revealed his plans after winning the Olympic gold medal, and they will definitely leave you in splits.
A video going viral on the internet shows Nadeem talking to a Pakistani news reporter, who asks about his future plans and also about the reaction among people. As the reporter asked, “What is the plan now?, he said, “Maal ikatha karne hai, paise ikatha karne hai (I have to collect things, which means I need to collect money now).”

Further, revealing his plans with family, Nadeem said that he wants to take his parents, wife and children for the Hajj pilgrimage with the money he collects. The video also garnered a lot of reactions from social media users, who lauded the athlete for his humble nature and his innocence.

Amid all the appreciation, recognition, cash awards and other valuable prizes, Arshad Nadeem is determined to build a proper academy for athletes in or near his village, considering the challenges he personally faced before the Paris Olympics. In the meantime, the Pakistani government has announced cash awards for the athlete. Also, a sports city in his name would be built in his hometown.
Arshad Nadeem won the prestigious gold in the men’s javelin throw at the Stade de France with a superb record of 92.97 m. This makes him the first medallist since the men’s hockey team at Barcelona 1992.
