People have begun to go to such lengths to gain mere likes on social media that it has become difficult to understand if an act of kindness is a genuine gesture or an act. It is difficult to understand if a person is genuinely trying to help someone or if it is a hidden motive. In the age of social media, people will do anything to get likes and views. So, when a girl helped push a cycle trolley up a bridge in the sun and recorded the moment, social media quickly jumped to conclusions.
The now-viral clip shows a woman dressed in printed attire helping a man driving a cycle trolley with a cooler up on a bridge. Generally, climbing a bridge with a heavy load at the back poses difficulty for rickshaw pullers, especially in the scorching heat. The woman rushed to help push the rickshaw up the bridge. She also offered him a bottle of water and gamcha. She also recorded the incident and shared it on social media. While a section of the internet praised her for her gesture, others criticised her and called her a “show off.” The in-text read, “Swadeshi vastra (gamcha) abhiyaan.”

The clip received 4.4 lakh views on X (formerly known as Twitter). A comment read, “Video banane ke liye wahi khade the (You were standing right there to make this video).” Another commented, “Helped as long as the camera was there.” Another wondered, “Real..Or just reel?” One pointed out, “Jab bhag rhi thi tab eske hath me kuch nhi nhi tha fir kidhr se aaya (When she was running to help him, she had no gamcha or water bottle in her hand. From where did it come)?” Many felt that the woman would not give a helping hand at home, but for reels, she would.
There were a few who “respected” the woman’s gesture and kind act. Some also said that this act showed her upbringing.
What do you think of the clip? Was it for a show or genuine?
