Gurucharan Singh, known for his stint as Roshan Singh Sodhi in the popular sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, recently ditched the city traffic and travelled in Mumbai Metro for the first time. Sharing his experience, the actor recorded a video inside the metro and posted it on his official Instagram handle. The video gave viewers a glimpse of one of the metro stations near Inorbit Mall as he exited the train.
After stepping out of the metro, the actor can be heard saying in the video, “Dosto, aaj metro mei pehli baar safar kiya hai Mumbai mei. Maza aaya, wow kya baat hai (Friends, today I travelled in metro for the first time in Mumbai. It was so much fun).” “Yaha Inorbit mall bhi hai peeche. Maza aagaya. Delhi mei toh bahut safar kiya tha, aaj Mumbai metro mei. Love you all (I can see Inorbit Mall behind me. I have travelled in the Delhi metro many times, but this is my first time in the Mumbai metro),” he added.
In Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, Gurcharan Singh played the role of a fun-loving man, Roshan Singh Sodhi, who was always in party mode and never hesitated to express his love for his wife. He was a founding cast member and one of the popular characters on the show. However, he left the show in 2013, only to come back the next year due to audience demand. After leaving the show in 2020, Gurcharan was replaced by actor Balwinder Singh Suri.
In April this year, Singh went missing, but came back home after 26 days. Upon his return, Delhi Police officials interrogated the actor, following which it was discovered that he had left home to be on a spiritual journey. Police officials revealed that Gurucharan visited Gurudwaras in Ludhiana and Amritsar ever since he was reported ‘missing’, but later he realised that he should return home.
Gurucharan Singh opened up about his disappearance and revealed that he had no plans to come back. “I have always been spiritual because of my parents, and at this point in life, when I was feeling low, I turned towards God. I went on a spiritual journey and had no plans of coming back. But God gave me a sign, and that made me return home,” Singh told the Bombay Times.
“Many people think I planned my disappearance for publicity, but that’s not true. If I wanted publicity, I could have given interviews to talk about the pending dues for my work in TMKOC. I could have used social media to do that, but I didn’t. Even after coming back home, I didn’t give any interviews, but now I am speaking up because I want to clarify certain things that people are saying about me,” the actor added.
