PM Modi’s recent visit to Lakshadweep has led to diplomatic tension between India and the Maldives. After photos of PM Modi enjoying his vacation at the picturesque beaches of the island came to light, a few Maldivian leaders made derogatory remarks. In the wake of such derogatory remarks, many Bollywood celebrities, television stars, and even members of the cricket fraternity assembled under one roof to encourage Lakshadweep’s tourism, highlighting the coastal region’s pristine beauty and hospitality. Now, Bigg Boss 16 contestant Ankit Gupta has joined the bandwagon, asserting that he stands by “Indian Tourism”.
In an interview with Pinkvilla, Ankit Gupta said it was “disheartening” to witness the political and public figures of the Maldives island ill-speaking about India. “It’s disheartening to witness negative remarks about India from Maldivian public figures. I stand by Indian Tourism and eagerly anticipate exploring the enchanting Lakshadweep Islands soon! Explore Indian islands!” he said.
