New Delhi: In line with rumours, Xiaomi has unveiled the successor to its Redmi Note smartphone. Named Redmi Note 2, the new phone comes with a 5.5-inch 1080p display and packs MTK's octa-core Helio X10 coupled with 2 GB of RAM.
The dual-SIM 4G phone will come running the latest MIUI 7 OS, Xiaomi's custom OS for its smartphones.
The Redmi Note 2 is priced at RMB 799 (approximately Rs 8000), while the Prime version costs RMB 999 (approximately Rs 10,000).
The company has launched two models of the Redmi Note 2 - the regular and Prime. While the Redmi Note 2 comes with an internal storage space of 16 GB, the Redmi Note 2 Prime includes 32 GB of internal memory.
The phone features a 13 megapixel rear camera shoots with "ultra-fast 0.1s focus speed". It has a 5 megapixel snapper at the front.
The phone comes packed with a 3020 mAh removable battery. It will be available in a wide range of colours - white, black, yellow, blue, and pink.
Measuring 152 mm x 76 mm x 8.25 mm, the Redmi Note 2 weighs 160 g.
The company is expected to launch the new Redmi Note 2 in India at its August 19 event in New Delhi.
Fast-growing Chinese smartphone maker had launched the first-gen Redmi Note in India in November last year. The last year's Redmi Note was launched in India in two variants - one with 4G capability (single SIM) and the other without (dual SIM) - priced at Rs 9,999 and Rs 8,999, respectively.
