Adding another product to the range of two-wheelers offered by the company, Xiaomi has launched a foldable electric scooter by the name of Mi Electric Scooter, priced at CNY 1999 (approx Rs 19,500).
With a new portable folding design, this scooter comes after Ninebot mini launched in October 2015 and Qicycle Electric Bike launched in June this year.
The Mi electric scooter is built using aircraft grade aluminium alloy and is powered by a 280Wh lithium-ion battery which provides a 30-kilometer long run to the scooter on a single charge.
It supports E-ABS anti-lock and double disc braking system and weighs 12.5 kilogrammes.
The Mi Electric scooter delivers a power of 500 W and can reach a maximum speed of 25 kilometres per hour.
The striking feature of the scooter is that it can be folded with just the press of a button and can completely compress itself within 3 seconds.
The scooter works on a Kinetic Energy Recovery System which recovers some of the energy dissipated at the running of the scooter. It then converts this kinetic energy into electrical energy and hence helps prolong the scooter’s battery life.
The amount of energy recovery performed from the system can be adjusted by an integrated app.
Users will also have an option of connecting the scooter with their smartphones via Bluetooth. This will then allow the users to track their speed, battery life and other information.
The availability of the Xiaomi Mi electric scooter is expected to be limited to China as the company is yet to figure out release plans for it.
The scooter will be available in two colours, White and Black, from December 15 onward.
