2024 is here, and WhatsApp isn’t shying away from adding new features to the application. Now, it is reportedly working on a new feature that will allow iOS users to theme the app.
As reported by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is developing a new theme feature for its iOS app, as seen in the latest WhatsApp Beta for iOS 24.1.10.70 update. The publication notes that users will be able to choose a default theme colour for the app from a selection of five different colours. In the screenshot shared, we can see green, blue, white, coral, and purple colours to choose from.
That said, it would mark a significant departure from the green shade that the app has been known for over the years, whether on iOS or Android. This change would also certainly freshen things up for WhatsApp users who may have grown bored of the green colour and want a change or simply want to customise the application’s aesthetic according to their preferences. WABetaInfo further notes that WhatsApp may even have plans to change the chat bubble colour in the future.
When Is It Going To Be Available?
As of now, this feature is currently under development, which means it isn’t available for beta testers yet. However, it shouldn’t be long before we get to see it in a beta version of the iOS app. For now, you can resort to choosing a chat wallpaper to customize the app. You can choose between Bright, Dark, and Solid colours, but also choose an image of your own.
In related WhatsApp news, WhatsApp is testing a new update for its web version that includes a darker colour scheme and a redesigned sidebar. This could potentially help in reducing eye strain while using the app and improve its aesthetics.
