This Apple Watch Ultra Feature Saved A Diabetic Man's Life After He Fell Unconscious
Apple Watch Ultra has reportedly helped save the life of a diabetic man who passed out after a diabetic episode. Here's what you need to know.

Apple Watch has proven to be an indispensable tool for fitness tracking, allowing you to stay connected without interacting much with your phone, and over the years, Apple Watch has proven to be a lifesaver on multiple occasions as well.

And this time, the Apple Watch Ultra has reportedly helped save the life of a diabetic man who passed out after a diabetic episode. As reported KSNV via 9to5Mac, Josh Furman, a resident of Las Vegas, USA, was saved thanks to the Apple Watch Ultra’s Fall Detection feature.

Per the report, Furman’s blood sugar dropped enough to make him unconscious and caused him to fall down. Apple Watch Ultra detected this anomaly, and while he was unable to properly contact for help, it called his emergency contact and alerted them to his location.

The emergency contact was his mother, and she told authorities that he was a patient of type 1 diabetes.

“I don’t know how long I was out for, but when I woke up, the Apple Watch had basically called 911, the paramedics,” Furman said. “But I could not talk. I sounded like I had a mouth full of marbles. 911 could not understand me, but they had the GPS from the watch, so they knew where I was,” Furman told KNSV.

Notably, this isn’t the first time that Apple’s Fall Detection feature has come in handy, as in the past, many times, these watches have been able to call for help and save lives. The feature was released in 2018, with the launch of the Apple Watch series 4.

Earlier this year, an Apple Watch user named Michael Brodkorb was the victim of a hit and run incident in Minnesota. Thankfully, his Apple Watch was able to detect the impact using the Fall Detection feature and automatically dialed 911 when he was unable to move.

What's your reaction?
