Samsung Confirms Major Data Breach Affects Users In This Country: All Details
Samsung has reached out to the affected customers whose personal details like name and email ID has been exposed.

Samsung has been in the news for a concerning development related to its customers in the UK. The company has confirmed a data breach in its UK division that has reportedly exposed the personal details of people who bought from Samsung in the region. In fact, Samsung states that the affected customers have bought from the UK online store between July 1, 2019 and June 30, 2020.

The worrying part about the breach is that Samsung only got to know about the incident earlier this week. The company mentions the breach was possible because of a bug in a third-party app that it used on the devices.

Samsung doesn’t share the name of the affected app which caused this breach, nor do we know what kind of access the attackers got by exposing the personal data of Samsung’s customers.

The good news about the breach, if we can even say that, is that no financial data was revealed to the attackers. However, they did get other details like the phone number, name of the customers, email IDs and addresses as well.

It goes without saying that people whose details have been exposed should be extra careful about checking their emails as these attackers could try methods like phishing to get personal and bank details to steal money and even push dangerous malware via attachments.

Samsung assures that only the select customers in the UK were affected by the breach, and none of its global markets have been caught exposed by the incident. The company also claims that it has followed all the security protocols needed for a data breach and informed the agencies involved in such actions.
