President of India Meets Uber Driver Partners, Supports UberShaan
The driver training centre will be run by the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).

The Hon’ble President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee today visited Uber’s kiosk and interacted with Uber driver partners at the inauguration of a driver training centre at Deoghar, Jharkhand. The driver training centre will be run by the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). The initiative is backed by Uber which has committed to providing economic opportunities to the graduating drivers as part of its flagship initiative, UberShaan.

UberShaan aims to create 1 million livelihood opportunities as micro-entrepreneurs in India by 2018 and focuses on expanding economic opportunities across the spectrum. Through this initiative, Uber will help the graduating drivers receive commercial licenses and support the entrepreneurial ambitions of licensed drivers requiring vehicle financing and leasing solutions.
