Sundar Pichai said that Google was open to naming Android N after an Indian sweet, that is, if that name wins the online poll.

Google is known for nicknaming its Android mobile operating systems after popular desserts (with the notable exception of 4.4 version which was called KitKat, after the popular chocolate candy bar).

Many Indians have been expressing the desire that Google names an Android version after an Indian sweet. Now that there is an Indian at the helm of Google, the chances of that happening are a lot brighter.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai, responding to a question during an interaction with students at Delhi's Sri Ram College of Commerce, said that the company was open to naming the next version of Android - Android N - after an Indian sweet. He said that Google could conduct an online poll to decide on the name.

While you send in your suggestions of names of Indian sweets beginning with the letter N in the comments and also via Twitter, here's a quick look at what all Android versions were actually named after Indian sweets. From Cupcake (v 1.5) to Marshmallow (v 6.0):

Version 1.5: Android Cupcake Chomchom

Version 1.6: Android Donut Dodha Barfi

Version 2.0: Android Eclair Elaneer Payasam

Version 2.2: Android Froyo Faluda

Version 2.3: Android Gingerbread Gulab Jamun
