HTC Vive VR headset release date postponed; will now be launched in April 2016
The two other major VR headsets slated to launch next year are rivals Oculus Rift and PlayStation VR.

On December 8, HTC announced that their VR headset, initially scheduled for release before the new year, will now be released in Spring 2016.

The HTC Vive is the result of a collaboration between HTC and Valve, who owns the dominant PC gaming platform Steam.

In the same press release announcing the updated consumer release date, HTC also revealed that they will be "making an additional 7,000 units available to developers" at the start of the year.

HTC first announced the development of Vive back in March. The two other major VR headsets slated to launch next year are rivals Oculus Rift and PlayStation VR.
