New Delhi: What is worse than having an usual name? Having people pronounce it incorrectly. Well, Facebook totally understands this and wants to help you with a new feature that will help your online friends get your name right in the first go.
Facebook is experimenting with a new feature that shows how the user's name is pronounced. The feature has been rolled out only to a small number of profiles so far and shows an audio clip for correct pronunciation.
A Yahoo report quotes Facebook personnel saying that the feature will be displayed on a user's profile along with an option for people to hear an audio playback. For now, the test is focused on English speakers in the US.
To check how Facebook is suggesting pronunciations of your name, you can go to Facebook on a Web browser and in the 'About' tab click on 'Details About You' and then an option for 'How do you say your name?' will show up. There, you can preview and select from Facebook's guesses about the pronunciation or write your own too.
