Several users are encountering difficulties accessing X (formerly known as Twitter) as the platform, owned by Elon Musk, appears to be down for them.
We experienced this issue ourselves when we found that the timeline in the ‘For You’ tab wasn’t loading. This is applicable for both the website on desktop, as well as the mobile app on iOS and Android. As of writing this, we still cannot see posts (tweets) loading.
This can also be verified using the outage monitoring website Downdetector.com. According to the website, multiple reports indicating problems with the platform spiked around 11 AM Indian Standard Time, and a clear spike can be observed there.
Meanwhile, we observed that despite the downtime in the timeline, you can still access other X features like Spaces. In fact, the trending section is also working, and we can see that it is showing ‘#XDown’ in the ‘What’s Happening’ section. It isn’t exactly clear how widespread the problem currently is, but we will update this piece once we learn more.
Update: As of 12:34 PM, we can note that the X’s timeline is operational again on both mobile platforms, including iOS and Android, as well as in the web browser experience.
Since X, or Twitter (if you still prefer to call it that), experienced an outage, numerous users went to other platforms such as Facebook and even Reddit to confirm the same. As of now, it cannot be confirmed, but many users were still able to post on X despite being unable to see anything.
“When you can’t even tweet about Twitter being down! #TwitterDown,” a user posted on X, expressing disappointment.
“My Twitter is back up and now I’m seeing that I wasn’t the only one #TwitterDown” another user posted, acknowledging that the platform was back to normal.
