CES 2024: LG Brings First Wireless OLED TV That Has A Transparent Screen
LG's new Signature T OLED TV features a transparent contrast layer on the front of the panel. If you pull the layer down using a remote, the TV becomes transparent, providing users with a unique experience.

What if we told you that you will soon be able to buy an OLED TV that you can see through, just like you can see through glass? That’s exactly what LG is planning to bring to consumers this year. While transparent panels aren’t new, and we have seen them over the years, LG’s OLED Signature T OLED TV is going to make this technology more widely available.

This announcement has been made a day before the Consumer Electronics Show 2024 (CES 2024) in Las Vegas, US. The TV comes in at a massive 77 inches and features a transparent contrast layer on the front of the OLED panel. If you pull the layer down using a remote, the TV becomes transparent, providing users with a unique and novel experience.

The TV runs on a custom LG WebOS TV operating system suited to match the new hardware. It also runs on LG’s Alpha 11 AI processor, which improves image quality and makes it easy to switch between black and transparent modes.

In addition to the T-bar feature, which displays various information bits such as weather, time, and more, the Signature T OLED TV can also be transformed into an art showcase. Additionally, this TV utilizes the LG Zero Connect Box to wirelessly play content.

While it’s not clear when the LG Signature T OLED TV will be released, LG has stated that the transparent TV will launch globally “later this year,” according to Yonhap News. As for the price, it’s expected to be quite expensive, considering it’s a new technology. Like other flagship LG products such as its rollable offerings, we can anticipate it to be priced at a significant premium.
