Kannada Director Tharun Sudhir Debuts On TV With Mahanati Show

Tharun Sudhir, known for directing Kannada films, is now making his debut on the small screen. He is currently looking for an actress for a television show. To promote this search, a promotional video was shot in which he conveys the message that anyone with sincerity in their craft can become a great actress. This reality show starts next Saturday at 7:30 PM.

The promotional video for Tarun Sudhir’s show Mahanati was well received. It shows how actresses in the film industry are portrayed beyond their glamour. In one section, you see an actress leaving a film set in an expensive car, and a driver comments that despite her low performance, she has such a luxury in only a few films. He speculates whether she bought the car herself or whether it was a gift, pointing out the double standards and assumptions faced by women in the industry. Tarun Sudhir also conveys a message in the advertising video that probably addresses the perception and reality of the lives of actresses.

After Tarun Sudhir heard the driver’s comments, he made a point. He said that if someone’s daughter works and saves money, it is considered responsible. But when film actresses work hard and succeed, people question this or see it negatively. Tarun added that hard work and honesty in their profession can make everyone, including these actresses, do great things in their field.

After working as a co-director for the 2012 movie Rambo, Tharun made his directorial debut with the movie Chowka in 2017. The movie starred prominent actors such as Prajwal Devraj, Diganth, Prem Kumar and Vijay Raghavendra and received critical acclaim. The movie ran for over 100 days in a few centres across Karnataka.

Tharun’s next project Roberrt had Darshan in the lead, the movie was released on March 11, 2021. The movie was widely appreciated and was commercially successful at the box office. He once again collaborated with Darshan for Kaatera which was co-written by Jadesh Kumar Hampi and released on 29 December 2023 to positive reviews across audiences and critics.
