New Delhi: An election rhetoric overlaid with hate and violence seems to be the norm this election season.
After Varun Gandhi, D Srinivas and Lalu Prasad, it's MDMK leader Vaiko's speech that is creating controversy.
Using the waning war in Sri Lanka as a poll plank, Vaiko has warned the government in Tamil Nadu of a bloodbath should LTTE leader Prabhakaran be harmed.
Saying that people of Tamil Nadu must remember Rajiv Gandhi's assassination. He also warned that “India will not remain one country if the government refuses to intervene and stop the war against the LTTE”.
"It has been quite a long time and we have forgotten what happened in Sriperumpudur. If anything happens to LTTE leader V Prabakaran, there will be a bloodbath in Tamil Nadu," he said.
Vaiko was arrested under the anti-terror law POTA by the AIADMK government in 2004 for his pro-LTTE speech.
