UP CM Yogi Adityanath to Defy Noida Hoodoo, Attend Metro Inauguration
By visiting Noida, Yogi Adityanath is daring to do what his predecessors did not as it widely believed that whichever CM visits Noida in their tenure loses the next Assembly election.

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is all to visit Noida for the inauguration the Magenta Delhi Metro by PM Narendra Modi from Botanical Garden station on December 25.

As per the reports, Adityanath will also be visiting Noida on December 23 to take a look at the arrangements.

By visiting Noida, Adityanath is daring to do what his predecessors did not as it widely believed that whichever CM visits Noida in their tenure loses the next Assembly election.

It started with Veer Bahadur Singh visiting Noida in 1988 after which he lost the election. A similar fate awaited his successor Narayan Dutt Tiwari of the Congress in 1989, Mulayam Singh Yadav of Samajwadi Party in 1995, Kalyan Singh of the BJP in 1999 and BSP’s Mayawati in 2012.

Former CM Akhilesh Yadav subscribed to superstitious belief and avoided visiting Noida throughout his tenure. This included skipping the Asian Development Bank Summit organized in May 2013 where Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was the chief guest.

Apart from this, Akhilesh launched the Rs 3,300 crore development projects, including access to six-lane Yamuna Expressway, through video conferencing from Lucknow. He had the family members of Dadri lynching victim Mohammad Akhlaq brought to Lucknow from Dadri so he could meet them, only to avoid visiting Noida.

After taking the charge of CM, Adityanath announced that he will be visiting all 75 districts of the state to review law and order situation, but till now he has not paid Noida a visit.

Speaking in the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday during the Winter Session, CM Yogi Adityanath said the government will showcase Noida Metro as a development model and commitment of the state government to provide better transportation facilities. He also said work on the Kanpur and Agra metro projects will start soon.
