Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav on Thursday met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh over the issue.
New Delhi: Even as the Supreme Court on Thursday directed the Central Bureau of Investigation to continue its independent probe against Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, the leader was meeting Prime Minister Manmohan Singh over the controversial SC/ST quota bill.
Post meeting, SP sources said that the party will continue opposing the bill that its rival Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati has been insisting upon. On Wednesday, an indignant Mayawati left the Upper House stunned with her sudden outlash at Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari over the bill.
Mayawati questioned the constant House disruptions and asked the reason for the delay in the passing of the bill.
Her remarks were later expunged.
