Sparks speculation of an effort to drift towards AIADMK to forge an alliance.

Chennai: Congress president Sonia Gandhi's public meetings that were scheduled to be held in Chennai and Puducherry on Wednesday have been postponed due to the ill health of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, a party leader said.

"It may not be possible for the honourable chief minister to attend the meeting...Since the meeting was scheduled to be a joint meeting, it has been postponed. We will fix a new date to the convenience of both the Congress president and the chief minister," Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said.

Sonia was scheduled to address a rally in Puducherry on Wednesday afternoon and in Chennai in the evening.

Parliamentary elections will be held in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on May 13.
