142. Sanchi is a state Assembly/Vidhan Sabha constituency in the state of Madhya Pradesh and is part of Vidisha Lok Sabha/Parliamentary constituency. Sanchi falls in Raisen district and Malwa North region of Madhya Pradesh. It is categorised as a rural seat.
There are a total of 2,34,531 voters in the seat, which includes 1,25,700 male voters, and 1,08,820 female voters. In the 2018 Madhya Pradesh elections, Sanchi recorded a voter turnout of 74.39%. In 2013 the turnout was 71.4%, and in 2008 it was 69.16%.
In 2013, Dr Gourishankar Shejwar of BJP won the seat by a margin of 20,936 votes (13.23%). Dr Gourishankar Shejwar secured 54.11% of the total votes polled.
INC won this seat in the 2008 Assembly elections with a margin of 9,197 votes (7.94%), registering 44.8% of the total votes polled.
