PDP bent on dividing J&K on religious lines: Farooq
PDP befools people in Kashmir by speaking in three different voices on AFSPA and other issues, Farooq Abdullah said.

Jammu: Union Minister Farooq Abdullah on Saturday alleged opposition PDP in Jammu and Kashmir was bent upon dividing people in the name of religion and region.

"We criticise PDP for its double-speak and divisive politics. This party is bent upon dividing people in the name of religion and region in Jammu and Kashmir," Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy and president of National Conference Farooq Abdullah said while addressing a public gathering in Reasi, 80 kms from here to on Saturday.

"Its leadership befools people in Kashmir, in Jammu and in New Delhi by speaking in three different voices on AFSPA and other issues," he said.

"This party is living on this type of tactics since its inception. It derailed several projects including the launch of Sawalakot power project during their tenure in power as these were envisaged by my government", alleged the senior Abdullah.

"Their only concern is to exploit public emotions on one or the other pretext," he charged and added this "negative politics" has done a "great damage" to the state both politically and economically.

Underlining the role of women in the development of the society, the Union Minister said that women sarpanches and panches can revolutionise the welfare and progress of this section of the society in a big way.

He said empowerment of panchayats by the present government is a "historic step aimed at all round and equitable development" of all areas of J&K.

Farooq said his Ministry would involve sarpanches and panches in providing solar lanterns and other appliances in far-flung and hilly areas where there is urgent requirement of this kind of energy.
