Jammu: Asserting that it is up to Congress High Command to take a decision on the rotational chief minister issue for Jammu and Kashmir, the party's state unit on Tuesday said there is no move to forge an alliance with any other party.
"...There is no such issue. There is no programme to bring National Conference on the road," Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee chief Saifuddin Soz told reporters in Kathua district.
He was replying to questions about the reports that Congress was striking chord with old coalition partner PDP to change the government.
"There is no issue of bringing it down. We have not struck any chord with any other party. The situation (in J&K) is before all of us. What will be political situation tomorrow, will be seen," Soz said.
To a question about Congress workers' demand for replacing Omar with a Congress chief minister, he said, "It is up to high command to take a decision on it. People have raised the issue with Rahul Gandhi. I faced this question a number of times during past 15 months."
"I do not think anything can be said on this issue. It is up to High Command," he added.
To another question whether Congress would like to seek change of guard in the backdrop of "political pay offs" issue and suspected death of NC worker Haji Yousef, Soz said, "It is not connected with this unfortunate death...Rahul (during his recent visit to the state) weighed the sentiment and he assured that he would discuss the issue with High Command."
