Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has finally broken his silence on JDU leader Anant Singh's arrest. In an exclusive interview with CNN-IBN, the Bihar CM accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders of making flimsy statements, adding that "they just don't know how to react".

Janata Dal United MLA Anant Singh, a known strongman, was arrested by Bihar Police in a kidnapping and murder case on June 24. The police also reportedly recovered illegal weapons from Singh's residence.

Talking about RLSP leader Arun Kumar's statement against him on the issue, Nitish said, "They don't qualify to be in politics. They are talking about hitting me physically after law has caught up with Anant Singh. They know politics of violence and hate".

The Chief Minister also voiced his agreement with BJP veteran leader LK Advani's comment on emergency. Nitish said, "What Advani ji said is a fact. He is a seasoned man, and if he is feeling that way, it only corroborates our statement that Modi government has imposed censorship everywhere."

In an interview ahead of the 40th Anniversary of the Emergency, the veteran BJP leader had said that "forces that can crush democracy" are stronger.

"At the present point of time, the forces that can crush democracy, notwithstanding the constitutional and legal safeguards, are stronger," said the former deputy prime minister.

Speaking about his relationship with his alliance partner and RJD leader Lalu Prasad, Nitish said, "Lalu ji and me are not new allies or friends. we have been friends since emergency and JP movement days. He always was this witty".

After resisting JDU's demand for weeks, Lalu agreed to naming Nitish Kumar as chief ministerial face of the 'secular alliance' for Bihar polls, saying he was ready to drink "poison" to crush the "cobra" of communalism.
