Bangalore: Infosys co-founder and Unique Identification Authority of India chairman Nandan Nilekani, who is likely to contest the Lok Sabha elections from the Bangalore South constituency, will join the Congress on Sunday. "I will be joining Congress tomorrow," said Nilekani on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Nilekani also hit out at the Bharatiya Janata Party's complaint to the Election Commission of India over his ad campaign. "I am running a very clean campaign, let the EC look at BJP's complaint," he said.
The BJP has lodged a complaint against Nilekani with the EC. The party has said that the complaint is against the advertisements of Aadhaar that are appearing despite the election code of conduct set in place.
Nilekani has launched an advertisement campaign in print, TV and online ahead of elections. Some of his advertisements have details of Aadhaar and his achievements as the UIDAI chairman.
Nilekani will be taking on BJP national general secretary and former union minister Ananth Kumar, who has won 5 straight Lok Sabha polls from the prestigious Bangalore South.
Bangalore South has been with the BJP since 1991. It is one of the four Lok Sabha seats the BJP has won in Karnaraka (in the entire South) for the first time.
