Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly on Tuesday witnessed uproarious scenes after Opposition PDP sought discussion on the issue of nameless graves.
The members of the Opposition, PDP, walked towards the Speaker's podium while demanding that an adjournment motion be brought on the issue, following which they staged a walkout.
Later, speaking on the issue, state Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that people needed answers and that the government had taken note of recommendations of State Human Rights Commission.
He further said that there was a need for truth and reconciliation commission and both India and Pakistan should help so that truth could be revealed.
On the issue of the issue being debated in UK Parliament, he said, "Foreign countries cannot teach us human rights."
Defending the forces, he said, "Some people in these graves might have been killed by militants so we should not accuse security forces only."
Earlier in the state Assembly on Tuesday, PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti, along with other party leaders, began protesting as soon as the session started.
Expressing her anger over the issue, Mufti said, "Whole one hour of the assembly was wasted. The Speaker did not allow us to speak, and it is very unfortunate."
In August, the State Human Rights Commission had found unmarked graves containing 2000 bodies at 38 sites across north Kashmir.
