New Delhi: Expelled Samajwadi party leader Ramgopal Yadav, on Tuesday lashed out at party chief Mulayam Singh alleging that he was "jealous" of the popularity earned by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and son Akhilesh Yadav and also dismissed his stance defending Amar Singh calling it "non sense".
“Mulayam Singh is jealous of Akhilesh Yadav because he is more popular than him,” said former SP general secretary Ramgopal.
He accused the party supremo for favouring Amar Singh and said, “Mulayam Singh's statement is nonsense, he should have thought before making such statement that Amar Singh saved him (Netaji) from court and CBI.” “Did he mean that Amar Singh managed CBI,” he added.
Reacting to Mulayam Singh's warm gesture of calling Amar Singh his brother and flouting his comment that Amar Singh had saved him from being behind the bars, Ram Gopal said, "He should have thought before making such statement."
Slamming the supporters of son Akhilesh Yadav, Mulayam Singh at the SP meeting on Monday had said, "I can't tolerate anything against Amar and Shivpal. Amar saved me from going to jail".
"Some ministers are just busy being sycophants. And people who can’t think big can’t be a minister. There are some raising slogans for Akhilesh. Do these people know how we have struggled to form the party? asserted Mulayam at the party meet on Monday.
Ramgopal further criticized the SP chief for favouring Amar Singh and asserted that Samajwadi party is "nothing" without Akhilesh.
Commenting on the growing differences with cousin and party chief Mulayam, the former SP general secretary said," According to a rule in economics, ‘fake currency’ lets ‘real currency’ out of market."
“Now I am a free man as I am expelled from party,” he added.
Taking a dig at the Samajwadi Party leaders, Ram Gopal said, “Other party's leaders are intelligent than SP leaders.”
Ramgopal Yadav’s statements came a day after party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav publicly pulled up Akhilesh Yadav at a meeting which ended on a fiery note with sacked minister Shivpal Yadav calling Akhilesh a "liar.
The former party general secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Ramgopal was on Sunday expelled from the party for six years on the instructions of SP supremo Mulayam Singh .
Escalating the feud and pushing the party further to the brink of a split, Shivpal Yadav, who was earlier sacked by Akhilesh, said on Sunday that Ram Gopal had been working for BJP and had created groups within to divide the party. Shivpal also accused Ramgopal of creating a group of goons who trouble people and create nuisance and added that he has also been involved with BJP to save his son.
In a scathing attack against Ram Gopal, Shivpal also said that ”Ramgopal has always misused the name of Netaji and is involved with corrupt people. He betrayed us to save his son and daughter-in-law from a CBI case, he tried to tarnish party’s image.”
To this Ram Gopal on Tuesday reacted saying that he was under no threat from CBI.
Absolving himself and casting aside allegations of forming another party, Ramgopal said "I went to Election Commision for another purpose, not for forming a different party ."
"Samajwadi Party is nothing without Akhilesh Yadav. I have asked Akhilesh to campaign and I am sure his supporters will say it all," he said, while claiming that he is not going to leave the Rajya Sabha seat.
Ramgopal who was lauded as the "think tank" of the party has been facing flak for having strongly supported Akhilesh Yadav in the entire fiasco.
