Leaders across party line express shock over Munde's untimely death
The accident took place when Munde was on his way to the Indira Gandhi International airport to fly to Mumbai.

New Delhi: Leaders across party line expressed shock at the sudden death of Union Minister Gopinath Munde. The Rural Development Minister died in a road accident in Delhi on Tuesday morning when he was on his way to the airport.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh rushed to AIIMS where Munde was taken after he met with an accident. Rajnath Singh said, "Deeply shocked to know of Shri Gopinath Munde's demise. He was a grassroots leader and known for his concern for poor people and farmers. Mundeji's death is an irreparable loss to the BJP and he has left a big void in Mahrashtra's political and social life."

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj tweeted, "I am shocked to know about sudden demise of my senior colleague Shri Gopinath Munde. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family."

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor expressed condolences to Munde's family and BJP. He said, "Shocking news of demise of Gopinath Munde at his political peak. Sincere condolences to Munde family, BJP & his government colleagues."

Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh tweeted, "Shocked to hear the sad demise of Gopinath Munde a personal friend and a great leader. My heartfelt condolences to the Family."

Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad said that he has lost a friend today. "Sudden demise of Sh. Mundeji has shocked and saddened me and my party.In him I have personally lost a friend who always believed in the empowerment of the poor& the deprived communities.I pray to God that His family gets immense power to overcome this irreparable grief."

The accident took place when Munde was on his way to the Indira Gandhi International airport to fly to Mumbai. It took place when when Munde's car was moving from Lodhi Road towards the Aurobindo Chowk.

Munde had a victory rally scheduled in Beed and Parali today. He had won the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from the Beed constituency.
