New Delhi: At a time when people are praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his humanitarian act for reuniting one Jeetbahadur Sarumagar with his family after 16 years, the social media exposed the white lie of the Prime Minister. The Facebook profile of the Nepal boy has revealed that Sarumagar met his family two years ago. There are pictures and posts as an evidence for that.
On June 19, 2012, Bahadur posted, "Hey Fri. Today is I m v happy. Bcos I m my home (Nepal).(sic)" The revelation raises question as to whether Modi hid the fact to use it to score brownie points in the eyes of Nepal.
As per reports, Bahadur met Modi in 1998 and ever since Modi has been taking care of him. He gave him shelter and even funded his education. 26-year-old Bahadur, who is currently pursuing BBA in Ahmedabad, had come to India in 1998 along with his brother looking for work like many other migrants from Nepal.
Modi took Sarumagar to Nepal on his two days official trip to reunite him with his family.
A day before his trip, Modi had tweeted reasons behind his Nepal visit being very special. He said, "On a personal note my Nepal visit is very special. Years ago I met a child from Nepal, Jeet Bahadur who did not know where he was headed. I started showing my concern for Jeet Bahadur. Gradually, he took interest in academics, sports & even learnt Gujarati!"
Modi had said that Bahadur's parents were traced and he will be re-united with his family. "Thankfully, we were able to locate his parents. I am glad that tomorrow the parents would be reunited with their son," Modi had added.
