Mumbai: Bollywood mega-star Amitabh Bachchan on Friday clarified he will not campaign for any political party in coming Lok Sabha elections.
Bachchan was speaking to media persons after casting the first vote for International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards in Mumbai.
On reports that the 'Angry Young Man' of yesteryear cinema will campaign for Samajwadi Party, whose general secretary Amar Singh is also his close friend, Mr Bachchan firmly stated that he was never into politics and hence, would not campaign for any party.
When asked whether he would support or oppose any party as an individual, Big B said he would not like to comment on anything which would be later misread or misinterpreted by some people. ''As an ordinary citizen, I hope that the people, who come to power through the votes of common people should carry out their duty with utmost responsiblity,'' Mr Bachchan asserted.
To another question about his actress daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's possiblity to contest elections from Uttar Pradesh, he said,'' there was no such plan.''
