Haryana Assembly elections: BJP dethrones Congress, INLD fails to make a comeback
As BJP made huge leaps in the state, ruling Congress was badly decimated in the polls.

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party is all set to form government in Haryana for the very first time after registering a record victory in the state by winning 47 of the 90 seats.

As BJP made huge leaps in the state, ruling Congress was badly decimated in the polls. It won just 15 seats, as opposed to its 2009 tally of 41 seats.

The Indian National Lok Dal which was hoping for a comeback after spending 10 years on the opposition benches was also crushed by the 'Modi wave'. Chautala's party was reduced to just 19 constituencies. Its ally Shiromani Akali Dal managed to win in one seat.

Kuldeep Bishnoi's Haryana Janhit Congress too suffered a blow as just two of its candidates won in the elections.

While the Bahujan Samaj Party bagged one seat, five Independents booked a seat for themselves in the 90-member Assembly.

With the BJP managing to gain simple majority in the state where it had just four MLAs, all eyes are on the CM's post.
