Bangalore: The war of words between Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa and Governor HR Bhardwaj has intensified. The Chief Minister on Thursday said that he would soon write a letter to President Pratibha Patil complaining about Bhardwaj.
Yeddyurappa said that the Governor has been interfering too much in state affairs.
"I am writing a letter to the President of India that the Karnataka Governor is interfering too much into the state affairs and is exceeding the brief given to him," Yeddyurappa said in Shimoga on Thursday.
His statement comes a day after Bhardwaj said on Wednesday that he had given Yeddyurappa a list of corrupt ministers in his Cabinet. Bhardwaj gave the a list of alleged corrupt ministers to Yeddyurappa within hours of the Chief Minister ticking him off saying if the Governor was not satisfied with the replies he had given regarding land deals he could not help it.
Bhardwaj had written two letters to Yeddyurappa seeking explanation on charges that the Chief Minister favoured his family members with prime land in and around Bangalore and on action taken against Reddy brothers, who are also ministers, over their alleged illegal iron ore mining.
Panchayat elections are going to take place in Karnataka from December 26-31 and allegations of Yeddyurappa's involvement in land scams can be detrimental to the changes of Bharatiya Janata Party.
