Kunda: The UP government is still silent on arresting controversial MLA Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya in the murder case of DSP Zia-ul-Haq. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav reached Kunda on Wednesday along with Minority Affairs Minister Mohammad Azam Khan to meet the family of the murdered village pradhan. The gram pradhan and his brother were killed along with DSP Zia-Ul-Haq.
"We have given Rs 20 lakh to the widows of the slain gram pradhan and his brother. The government will take strong steps to nab the culprits and ensure the safety of the families. We have referred the case to the CBI," Akhilesh Yadav said.
The gram pradhan's family have been demanding justice and had threatened to commit suicide of Akhilesh Yadav failed to meet them. Before reaching Kunda, Akhilesh met Haq's family and gave a cheque of Rs 50 lakh and assured them that they woule be provided a government job.
But when Azam Khan was questioned about Raja Bhaiya and whether he would be arrested, he replied that people should have patience and wait for some more time. Calling it a tragic and painful incident, Khan claimed that swift action was taken in the case and that in itself is an example. When asked if he believed that Raja Bhaiya was guilty, Khan said he holds every responsible person guilty but he was not a court. He said that he has spoken about upholding the law in the Assembly.
On the postmortem report controversy Azam Khan said it may be correct or it may be wrong. He added that if the doctors who conducted the postmortem had committed an error or mistake, then they would be punished.
Haq was killed during clashes between villagers and police in Walipur village of Kunda late on Saturday night. The police officer was killed after he reached the area following the murder of a gram pradhan and one other person.
