Hyderabad: The Communist Party of India is fielding candidates in five states going to polls earlier this year, including Uttar Pradesh, having an understanding with Communist Party of India (Marxist) and Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist), besides some secular and democratic forces, the party's general secretary AB Bardhan said in Hyderabad on Monday.

"In Uttar Pradesh, the main battle will be fought. Our intention is to see that the neither the Congress gains nor the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP). The Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) has not kept up the hopes. The dalits and other deprived sections had hopes from them. Those hopes have been belied. So, they are also in a crisis," he told reporters in Hyderabad.

The sacking of some ministers in Uttar Pradesh and the way election tickets are given to candidates and then taken away show that the Bahujan Samajwadi Party has failed to live up to the hopes of the people, Bardhan said.
