Kadappa: Continuing his attack on the Congress high command, former MP Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Friday alleged the party leadership has hatched a conspiracy to split his family.
Addressing a meeting of supporters from his native Pulivendula assembly constituency, he claimed the Congress high command tried to split his family in a bid to weaken him.
Jagan, who quit Congress earlier this month, had alleged in his resignation letter to party president Sonia Gandhi that the high command tried to divide his family by offering a cabinet berth to his uncle Y S Vivekananda Reddy.
Though some family members tried to bring about a rapprochement between Jagan and his uncle, the efforts failed.
Jagan had earlier announced that he would launch a political party in about 45 days.
The bypolls to be held for the Pulivendula assembly seat and the Kadapa Lok Sabha seat, vacated by his mother Vijayalakshmi and himself respectively, are going be a fight between his "self-respect" slogan and the "scheming" Congress leadership, he said.
Jagan also said the party to be launched by him would herald a 'golden age' after the next assembly elections in 2014.
