Actor-politician hints he wants to emulate legendary leader NTR.

Hyderabad: Actor-politician Chiranjeevi on Sunday hinted that he may contest from three assembly constituencies, one each in the three regions of Andhra Pradesh.

If the Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) president does that, he will be repeating history. Telugu Desam Party (TDP) founder and matinee idol N T Rama Rao used to contest from three constituencies to drive home the point that his popularity spans the entire state.

Talking to reporters, Chiranjeevi said he might contest from one assembly seat each in Andhra, Rayalseema and Telanagana regions.

He confirmed that he would contest from Tiruapti in Rayalseema and from a seat in his native West Godavari district of coastal Andhra.

"If there is a possibility of contesting from a third constituency, I will choose Nalgonda (in Telangana)."

He also declared that the first list of his party candidates for assembly and Lok Sabha elections would be announced in a day or two.

Chiranjeevi, who launched PRP in August last year, hopes to better the record of NTR, who came to power within nine months after floating TDP in 1982.

Chiru, as he is popularly known among his fans, said the huge success of his party's meeting here Saturday night proved the popularity of his party in the Telangana region.

He alleged that the Congress party had done injustice to backward classes in allotment of party ticket.

He pointed out that the Congress fielded only 66 candidates from backward classes though there were 109 backward classes. "This shows that the Congress is not sincere in ensuring social justice."
