Chandigarh: Charges were framed against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday in a defamation case filed by Punjab's revenue minister Bikram Singh Majithia.

Bikram Singh Majithia, a SAD leader and cabinet minister in the Punjab Government, had filed the defamation case against Kejriwal, Sanjay Singh and Ashish Khaitan of AAP for linking him to Punjab's drug trade without having any evidence to back up the allegations.

Majithia had said the attempt to defame is part of a conspiracy.

AAP had gone ahead with display of posters across Punjab a couple of months back saying Bikram Majithia is associated with the drug trade in Punjab, a charge that Majithia, brother-in-law of Union Minister Harsimrat Badal, vehemently denies.

The case will come up for hearing on January 4, 2017.
