New Delhi: Union Minister Jairam Ramesh has cautioned that established political parties cannot ignore the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). He said, "We can't ignore the AAP. Don't know about villages but in cities they do have an influence. They aren't raising the wrong issues."

He said that AAP leaders may be poor in administration, but they are brilliant in campaigning. He predicted that the AAP could take a good percentage of votes in the Lok Sabha elections.

Ramesh said that the AAP had raised legitimate issues. He asked the established political parties to change the way they do politics. He added that there should be a zero tolerance to corruption.

However, he doubted the AAP's ability to run a government. He said, "But I have doubts whether they will be able to run a government. We will have to wait and watch if they are successful."

He asked his partymen to lead a simple life. He said, "Eleven years ago Sonia Gandhi sent a code of conduct on simplicity and integrity. This was sent to all senior leaders. She has always spoken about this. Congressmen need to follow this. This is what has given rise to parties like the AAP. If you don't change the way the work you have hundreds of aam aadmi parties. It's a protest movement."

What's your reaction?
