The BSP workers belong to the party's South Delhi constituency unit.

New Delhi: Apparently dissatisfied with the functioning of the party, some Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) workers in South Delhi Lok Sabha constituency are likely to join the Congress.

"A group of BSP workers, considered close to BSP MLA from Badarpur Ram Singh Netaji, is set to join the Congress tomorrow," a senior Congress leader said on Thursday.

"Their decision to join the Congress shows our party's growing strength in the city," he said.

The South Delhi constituency, which saw a drastic demographic change in profile following delimitation, has nearly 3 lakh Scheduled Caste and Dalit population who could play a prominent role in the outcome of the election.

The BSP has fielded Kanwar Singh Tanwar, the wealthiest candidate in last year's Delhi Assembly, who had contested from Chhatarpur Assembly segment.

Upbeat over BSP workers shifting to their camp, the Congress leader said his party was confident of wresting the South Delhi seat.

Ram Singh Netaji was in the Congress and had joined BSP last year.
