Lucknow: The BJP as well as the Samajwadi Party have criticised Congress General Secretary Digvijaya Singh's statement hinting at a link between Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and the terror attack on Mahabodhi temple in Bodh Gaya in Bihar. While the BJP called Singh's statement as laughable, Samajwadi Party leader Naresh Agarwal said that the Congress leader should not have made such a statement.
Calling the statements as laughable and absurd, BJP leader Rajiv Pratap Rudy said that if Digvijaya Singh can call known terrorist Osama bin Laden as Osamaji, then there is nothing new in this comment. Another BJP leader Prakash Javadekar said Singh's statement showed mental bankruptcy.
Earlier, Singh on Monday hinted at a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) conspiracy in the Mahabodhi temple terror strike.
"Flip side of this (Mahabodhi temple blasts). Amit Shah (BJP UP in-charge) promises a Grand Temple at Ayodhya. Modi addresses Bihar BJP workers and asks them to teach Nitish a lesson. Next day bomb blasts at Mahabodhi temple at Bodh Gaya. Is there a connect? I don't know. ALLOW NIA TO COMPLETE INVESTIGATION PLEASE!," Singh posted on micro-blogging Twitter.
The Congress leader also blamed the Bharatiya Janata Party of politicising the Mahabodhi temple terror attack. He hit out at BJP leaders Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Ravi Shankar Prasad on Twitter. He posted, "Rudy- Within two weeks, law and order in Bihar has become very bad! Ravi Shankar Prasad - Pune blast accused did recce quoting Delhi Police.
The Congress leader also blamed the BJP of politicising the terror attack and said NIA should be allowed to complete its probe.
"Media and BJP - Reaction of Myanmar incidents quoting IB sources. The Bihar government ignored IB input. Aren't they doing politics over the incident? Aren't they suggesting a Muslim involvement without full investigation?" he said.
Ever since the famous 1500-year-old temple in Bodh Gaya was attacked, a blame game is on between the Congress and the BJP. The BJP had on Sunday accused the Congress and the Bihar government of security lapse.
Terror struck the world renowned religious site of Bodh Gaya in Bihar in the early hours on Sunday as a series of ten explosions in and around the famous Mahabodhi temple left two monks injured.
