New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday blamed the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance Government for Parliament logjam and demanded that the decision to allow Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in multi-brand retail should be rolled back immediately.
Hardening its stand on FDI just a day before an all-party meet in the issue called by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh NJP MP and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj said that there is no need for the meeting if decision on FDI is not rolled back by Monday night.
"The Congress is responsible for Parliament not functioning. The Government came up with a decision on which there is no consensus. We want Parliament to function but the decision on FDI in retail should be rolled back by tonight," said Swaraj in New Delhi
"Mamata Banerjee and DMK oppose it. The Smajwadi Party and the BSP are also against it. The entire NDA is opposed to this. Tomorrow's all-party meeting called by the Prime Minister is not needed if the decision is withdrawn," she added.
