Bihar: Cong denies any post-poll pact with RJD
Congress said it would prefer to sit in opposition rather than have a post-poll alliance with any other party.

Patna: The Congress today said that it would prefer to sit in opposition rather than have a post-poll alliance with any other party, including RJD.

"We will prefer to sit in opposition rather than having post-poll alliance with any other party, be it RJD or others," Congress General Secretary B K Hariprasad said.

Given the feedback the party had received, the Congress would fare well and form the government on its own, he said.

Stating that the BJP leaders were making false allegations against the Congress leaders on the issue of corruption, the Congress leader said the saffron leaders had "no moral right" to speak on the issue.

"The country has watched the ex-BJP chief Bangaru Laxman taking bribe... there are charges of corruption against its president Nitin Gadkari and Karnataka Chief Minister," he said and asked as to why the party allowed Gadkari and Karnataka CM to continue.

"We have a stand on corruption," he said apparently referring to resignation of Ashok Chavan as Maharashtra Chief Minister and A Raja from the union cabinet.

On the BJP's claim that development would be the key factor in the elections in Bihar, Hariprasad said the country had witnessed what led to the exit of the Atal Bihari Vajpayee ministry and N Chandrababu Naidu as CM of Andhra Pradesh.

"They coined feel good and India shining and development slogans... and the people rejected them for their false claim," he said, adding, the Nitish Kumar government would meet similar fate here.

When asked about actor-turned-Congress leader Shekhar Suman's statement that he was "misused in politics and would take sanyas", he said Suman should have maintained patience before speaking.

"In fact, Suman should have himself come to Patna and campaigned for the party nominees instead of waiting for an invitation," he said.

The Congress had only three star-campaigners-- the Congress president Sonia Gandhi, General Secretary Rahul Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Hariprasad said, adding, they would try to mollify sulking Suman soon.

He said Sonia Gandhi would be campaigning for the party nominees at Bhabhua and Buxar on November 17, while Rahul Gandhi would be addressing election meetings at Obera and Sasaram the next day.

Rubbishing reports of irregularities in distribution of tickets, Hariprasad said the process adopted for allotment of tickets was "quite transparent".

"Obviously, there has been some resentment among the partymen who failed to get tickets because the Congress is contesting the elections on its own from all 243 seats after a long gap," he said.

Reacting to state Congress Chief Choudhary Mehboob Ali Kaiser's statement that it would be a "collective responsibility" for the leaders if the party did not ot fare well, he said he was "ready" to own the entire responsibility if the party failed to perform well.
