Ramesh Chandra Mishra of BJP has been elected for the Badlapur seat, constituency No. 364 of Uttar Pradesh legislative assembly, by securing 60237 votes.
The main candidates from Badlapur seat were Lalji Yadava, Ramesh Chandra Mishra, Omprakash Baba Dubey, and Mrigendra Singh Alias Shivbaba (RLD).
In the 2012 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, the Samajwadi Party won this constituency by 16,193 votes. Om Prakash 'Baba' Dubey, the winning Samajwadi Party candidate, got 65,278 votes. The nearest contender was Lalji Yadav of BSP who got 49,085 votes. The voter turnout was 55.70 %.
Elections to 403 seats of Uttar Pradesh were held over 7 phases from February 4 to March 8.
Exit polls had predicted the BJP emerging first in Uttar Pradesh with the Samajwadi Party- Congress alliance emerging second and Mayawati's Bahujan Samaj Party emerging a distant third.
