Arvind Kejriwal Spotted With Close Aide Bibhav Days After Swati Maliwal 'Assault' Incident; BJP Says 'Everything Is Now Clear'
BJP's Shehzad Poonawalla said no action was being taken as Kejriwal was behind the assault on Maliwal and it was not the first time that the AAP was involved in such incidents.

A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader from Delhi on Thursday posted a fresh photograph of Bibhav Kumar, a close aide of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal who allegedly assaulted Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Swati Maliwal earlier this week, accompanying the AAP chief and other party leaders at the Lucknow Airport on Wednesday night.

The Vice-President of BJP’s Delhi, Kapil Mishra, unit took to social media platform X to post a photo of Kejriwal and other party leaders along with Bibhav Kumar.

Responding to Mishra’s post, BJP National Spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla, in a video message, said it was now clear that Arvind Kejriwal was behind the attack on AAP’s woman MP Swati Maliwal as the party had not registered an FIR against Bibhav even after 72 hours though senior leader Sanjay Singh admitted to the assault on Maliwal.

He said as Bibhav was still roaming with the AAP top brass, it was clear that he attacked Maliwal at Kejriwal’s behest.

He added that no action was being taken as Kejriwal was behind the assault on Maliwal and it was not the first time that the AAP was involved in such incidents.

Referring to the public statements made by former Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Maliwal’s former husband Naveen Jaihind and AAP leader Nitin Tyagi, he said, “Now, she is being pressured to keep silent or change her story as is evident from statements of Naveen Jaihind and Nitin Tyagi of AAP. Hence she hasn’t approached the police yet.”

In a video message on the social media platform, Facebook, Jaihind claimed danger to Maliwal’s life, saying “anything can happen to her”.

Maliwal’s ex-husband first clarified that he got divorced four years ago and was no longer in regular touch with Maliwal. He went on to say that whatever happened to Maliwal was part of a bigger conspiracy and there was danger to her life. “Ye sab puri jankari aur sajish ke sath ho raha hai, uske sath kuch bhi ho sakta hai (there’s a conspiracy going on against her and anything can happen to her),” Jaihind said.

After Maliwal alleged assault by Arvind Kejriwal’s close aide on Monday, senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh on Tuesday admitted that Bibhav Kumar assaulted and misbehaved with the former DCW chief at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s civil lines residence in the national capital and assured that strict action would be taken against Kumar.

“Yesterday an incident took place. At the residence of Arvind Kejriwal, an incident of misbehaviour took place with Swati Maliwal by Bibhav Kumar. Swati Maliwal has informed about this incident to the Delhi Police. This is a condemnable incident. Arvind Kejriwal has taken cognizance of the incident and has directed for strict action in the incident,” AAP leader Sanjay Singh said in an official statement.
