New Delhi: Samajwadi Party Rajya Sabha MPs who were suspended from the House on Tuesday for the entire duration of the Budget Session for unruly behaviour have apologised.
The four MPs - Kamal Akhtar, Nand Kishore Yadav, Veerpal Singh Yadav and Aamir Alam Khan - expressed regrets to Rajya Sabha Chairperson Hamid Ansari on Friday for their unruly behaviours that led to their suspension.
The four MPs along with three others - Ejaz Ali (Janata Dal-United), Sabir Ali (Lok Janshakti Party) and Subhash Prasad Yadav (Rashtriya Janata Dal) - were suspended and then forcibly removed by marshals after they sat inside the House protesting against the Women's Reservation Bill.
The MPs had on Monday while protesting against the Women's Reservation Bill that proposes reservation of 33 per cent seats for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies by tearing papers, uprooting mikes and trying to climb on the Chairperson’s desk.
The Opposition led by Samajwadi Party and RJD have been demanding that the suspension of their MPs be revoked.
However, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal on Wednesday said that the suspension of the MPs would be revoked only if they apologised for their behaviour to Ansari.
