New Delhi: It’s going be a two-stage process of Government formation at the Centre.
According to sources, only Cabinet ministers will be sworn in on Friday while Ministers of State and others will be sworn on Tuesday.
Senior Congress leader Pranab Mukherjee, NCP supreme Sharad Pawar, A K Antony, P Chidambaram, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee, former Chief Ministers S M Krishna, Ghulam Nabi Azad, and Veerappa Moily are among those who will be inducted in the Cabinet.
Sushilkumar Shinde, S Jaipal Reddy, Kamal Nath, Vayalar Ravi, Meira Kumar, Murli Deora, Kapil Sibal, Ambika Soni, B K Handique, Anand Sharma and C P Joshi also figure in the list of ministers, Media Adviser to Prime Minister Deepak Sandhu said in a statement.
"This will be followed in the next few days by an expansion of the Council of Ministers, including cabinet ministers, ministers of state with independent charge as well as other ministers of state," she said.
She said this expansion would give due representation to the allies.
HRD Minister in the last government, Arjun Singh, former law minister H R Bharadwaj and Congress veteran Sis Ram Ola have been dropped from the Cabinet list.
The second round of swearing in will happen on Tuesday, sources say.
On Friday morning, Sonia Gandhi drove down to Singh's official 7, Race Course Road residence along with her political secretary Ahmed Patel to discuss the latest situation after the DMK decided to stay out of the Government, for now.
The meeting comes in the wake of key ally DMK, with 18 MPs, deciding to extend outside support to the UPA as its talks with the Congress on ministerial berths fell through.
DMK supremo and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi and his son and MP from Madurai, M Azhagiri, left for Chennai on Friday morning.
