'Wish the US Had Leaders Like...': Modi's Interaction with Ujjwala Beneficiary in Ayodhya Wins the Internet
The YouTube video posted by PM Narendra Modi's official account shows him interacting with Meera Manjhi, the 10th crore Ujjwala beneficiary, and has received much love and admiration from viewers

The YouTube video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacting with an Ujjwala scheme beneficiary during his Ayodhya visit has received much love and admiration from viewers. One user, who claimed that they have been living in the United States for the past 40 years, said they wished the country had a leader like Modi.

The user, who identified themselves as ‘jacobin1973’, said all his life he had wished India to have leaders like Abraham Lincoln and John F Kennedy but now he wishes the US to have a leader like Prime Minister Modi.

“I love this man. This is a great irony of my life. When I was a young person in India I always used to wonder why we couldn’t have leaders like Abraham Lincoln and John F Kennedy. Now I have lived in the United States for over 40 years and I wish why we can’t have leaders like Mr. Modi,” the user wrote in the comment section of the YouTube video posted by the prime minister’s official account.

On Saturday (December 30), PM Modi visited Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh and took out a grand roadshow, ahead of the consecration ceremony of Ram’s idol on January 22. He inaugurated the Maharishi Valmiki International Airport in the new-look temple town, flagged off eight trains from the revamped railway junction, and laid the foundation for development projects worth more than Rs 15,000 crore.

Not only this, the PM also stopped for tea at the 10th crore Ujjwala beneficiary’s home during the visit. The scheme, which provides subsidised LPG connections to women from BPL (below poverty line) households, was launched in 2016 at UP’s Ballia and has only just completed 10 crore beneficiaries.

His interaction with Meera Manjhi has garnered much praise from internet users with the video getting more than 1,60,000 views. “The tea is good but it is a little too sweet,” Modi is heard telling Meera, who was elated to host the surprise guest at her house near the Lata Mangeshkar Chowk.

In the video, Modi tells Meera that he made a sudden stopover at her house as she holds the distinction of being the 10th-crore beneficiary of the Ujjwala scheme. He also enquired about the well-being of the entire family as well as that of the colony.

Meera told the PM that she has got free gas and accommodation. “Earlier, I had a kutcha house, but now it has become pucca,” she said and expressed her happiness for being able to host Modi at her house.

YouTube users in the comment section called Modi a “down-to-earth” individual and a “talented” man, while others said India was “lucky” to have a PM such as him and that the country was “blessed by his birth”.

One user, identifying themselves as ‘sukumart8212’ said they were happy paying “35% of my salary as tax” as it is helping the poor to get gas or build their homes. Another user said the video moved them to tears as they saw Modi’s “magic” unfold.

A user in the comment section said Modi was a “blessing from Ram to all Indians”, who will help Bharat “reclaim its past glory”. A user, identifying themselves as ‘giridhar4837’, even compared Modi to god, saying: “He is not just PM for us he is GOD.”

Many users also commented that they want Modi to return as the prime minister in 2024.

After his visit to Meera’s home in Ayodhya, Modi said in a post in Hindi on X: “Held a ‘chaai pe charchaa’ at the house of sister Meera ji, the 10th-crore beneficiary of Ujjwala Yojana, along with her family members in Ayodhya. I felt very satisfied to know how government schemes have made the life of the entire family easier.” In a statement, the UP government said the PM’s visit to Meera’s home was not scheduled in advance.
