Tomato Price Relief Soon! India Starts Importing Tomato From Nepal
The first lot of tomato imports is likely to reach by Friday in Varanasi, Lucknow and Kanpur

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday, August 10, said the country has started importing tomatoes from Nepal. It comes after a record high spike in the kitchen staple’s prices in the country.

The first lot of tomato imports are likely to reach by Friday in Varanasi, Lucknow and Kanpur, the finance minister said in parliament.

Recently, tomato prices surged in the country to as high as Rs 250 per kg, as poor rainfall, higher temperatures and a virus outbreak that has hit the crop.
