KL Rahul produced a classy century in the first innings of the ongoing Boxing Day Test between India and South Africa.
Coming down to bat in a perilous situation at number six, Rahul exhibited composure and sheer resilience to bring India back into the contest in Centurion.
His spectacular innings of 101 guided Team India to a decent total of 245-all out.

Former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif lavished high praise on the wicketkeeper-batter’s superlative show.
Kaif called it a “historic” innings.
“It’s not easy to hit a century at No.6. Very difficult conditions, overcast conditions. It was a wet pitch, the ball was moving around. India were in a spot of bother. But KL Rahul stood there. What an innings. It’s a historic knock,” Kaif said in a video he shared on X (formerly Twitter).
“Nobody will be able to forget. Keep your mouth shut and let your bat do the talking, that’s what you have done well. The game was slipping away. India were in a lot of trouble. This historic knock had patience, it had class. It was a proper Test knock. Well done, KL Rahul,” he added.

Rahul became the first overseas cricketer to breach the three-digit mark more than once in Centurion. The 31-year-old had previously scored 123 at this venue back in December 2021.
His latest knock of 101 off 137 balls was also only the second time when an Indian wicketkeeper brought up a century in SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia) countries.
Rishabh Pant was the first one to achieve this feat.
Rahul’s crucial innings came to an end after he was bowled by Nandre Burger.
South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada was the star performer with the ball having claimed five wickets in the first innings. Burger, on the other hand, scalped three wickets.
After Rahul’s show, it was Dean Elgar who hogged the limelight with the bat.
Elgar registered a hundred on Wednesday. Powered by his innings, South Africa reached 256 losing five wickets on the second day of the first Test.
South Africa currently have an 11-run lead over India.
