Bank Holiday Today: The month of August is ending, but bank holidays this month are not over yet. One must be wondering, is there a bank holiday on Ganesh Chaturthi today. For some states, there is a bank holiday on Ganesh Chaturthi, which is August 31, Wednesday. This is part of the 18 bank holidays in August, most of which have been used up till now. There is a bank holiday today for all public and private sector lenders in cities including Ahmedabad, Belapur, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Nagpur and Panaji.

The bank holiday on Ganesh Chaturthi has come into effect the list of bank holidays provided by the Reserve Bank of India. The RBI prepares a list of holidays every year, according to which they come into effect. The banking regulator has notified the holidays for lenders under three brackets — the Negotiable Instruments Act, Holiday, Real Time Gross Settlement Holiday, and Banks’ Closing of Accounts. All banks including the public sector, private sector, foreign banks, cooperative banks, and regional banks across the country will remain closed on these notified holidays.

It must be noted that despite these bank holidays, including weekly offs, bank customers can use net banking and mobile banking to do some of their bank work. You should also keep in mind that bank holidays are regional and may differ from state to state and bank to bank.
